Aldi has a ton of seasonal baking spices for sale right now. For only $1.69, I stocked up on some I don’t even need right now like ground ginger, cloves and cream of tartar. The cream of tartar is a particularly good deal, it can be tricky to find in regular grocery stores and rather expensive at about $3-4 for a couple of ounces. Cream of tartar is used primarily for stabilizing egg whites in recipes for things like meringues.
Over my 13+ years as a recipe blogger, I’ve had a lot of people ask for a substitute for cream of tartar, and there are a few, but for this price, why not use the real thing and get the best results?
